Women in computing in South Africa and other sub-Saharan countries

Abstract

As with many other countries in the world, women are underrepresented in computing in South Africa. I will present statistics for South Africa and will talk about my research into the reasons for this situation, and also talk about other countries in sub-Saharan Africa. I will also mention the ACM's Committee on Women in Computing Ambassador Program which aims to provide information on women in computing around the world.
